Dr. Sharon C. Kiely (Lewes, DE) is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and has been a Peer Coach with VITAL WorkLife since 2023. She completed her Doctorate of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Dr. Kiely completed her residency in Primary Care, Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital & Medical Center in Greenwich Village, New York and served as the Chief Resident. She also holds a Master’s in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz School of Public Policy. She is the founder of Sharon Kiely, MD, LLC specializing in working with high achieving women and career and life coaching.

Dr. Kiely has broad healthcare experience in academic & community settings spanning over 35 years holding senior leadership roles in medical education, health policy, quality, safety, care to underserved populations and health system management. During her career, she consistently mentored, advised and guided medical students, residents, attending physicians, nurses, healthcare leaders and other healthcare professionals. As a Chief Medical Officer, she hired coaches to support physicians in new leadership roles, and this practice grew to nurses and other staff over time. She also recognized the impact of burnout on quality & safety and worked to support second victims of unexpected events, including litigation support. As a Chief Wellness Officer, Dr. Kiely developed and looked for tools to support physicians, nurses and all healthcare workers well-being during the COVID pandemic.

Currently, Dr. Kiely teaches at the Jefferson University School of Population Health in career development, coaching and negotiation, incorporating self-coaching into the curricula. She is Professor, Internal Medicine, Frank H. Netter, MD School of Medicine, Quinnipiac University.
